phuket international Airport (hkt)

Phuket International Airport is the second busiest airport in Thailand with millions of passengers visiting each year. The airport plays an important role in promoting travel and tourism in the southern region of Thailand, since Phuket Island and nearby provinces are popular resort areas.

To go to the city centre by bus you need to get on the Phuket Smart Bus which provides hourly service from 6am to 9pm, leaving the airport and stopping at many tourist destinations until finally stopping at Rawai Beach. The ticket costs around 100 baht (4.80 Australian Dollars).

You can get a taxi from outside the terminals. All fares are metered and there is a 100 baht airport surcharge to add to the metre. Make sure your taxi driver turns on the metre when leaving.

Uber isn't available in Phuket but there is a similar app used there called Grab. Grab offers four kinds of vehicles: GrabCar, Grabcar Premium, 6-seater (Economy) and 6-seater (Premium). The fare will be different depending on the car category.

Getting Around Phuket

The best way you can get yourself around Phuket is by Tuk Tuk, which is a small yellow or red truck. Be advised that you probably will have to bargain the fare with the driver and keep in mind that fares within town shouldn't cost more than 50 baht though some drivers might charge a flat fee of about 100 baht.

Many resorts and hotels are close to the beach, restaurant and shopping areas, being possible to get around on foot. You can get a taxi with rates similar to the Tuk Tuks, so expect to bargain the fare with the driver before the trip.
